day 20: back in the ghetto.

today began beautifully.

after checking out of kate’s hotel,
the four of us, including kate’s roommate, lindsay, headed to church.
it was the first time we’d been since being in europe.
and it was so good.
we went to the hillsong paris church,
which was about a 30 minute walk from the hotel.
it was amazing.
being able to worship the lord with a community of people was so refreshing and reviving.
and being able to sing in french was so cool.

after church, we grabbed some lunch
and then headed back to the hotel to grab our luggage.
the night before, we had booked a hostel for our last two nights in paris
and were headed there to check in.

this is where it gets interesting again.
after having a somewhat stressful and frustrating experience getting there,
(which always ends up being comical)
we found our hostel.
funny thing is,
this one was in just as scary of an area as the last.
now we know why our hostel is surrounded by a huge gate with bars.

anyways, we checked in and spent some time resting
before heading out into the city for the night.

we saw the notre dame.

spent some time in a little bookstore, shakespeare and company.

roamed around the latin quarter.

and ate dinner at a small italian restaurant.

on the walk back to the metro,
we met a man who gave us everything in his shop for free.
i guess he liked us.
he gave us his card.
then called his cousin in to meet us.

overall, we had a lot of fun.
and to whoever says that the french are mean,
i beg to differ.
well, french boys at least.
we seem to have no problem finding ones
that carry our luggage up flights of stairs when we’re struggling,
or give us directions when we’re lost,
or even free stuff. haha.
