day 3: la cattedrale di Santa Maria è bello.

well, we were supposed to wake up at 8 am, but slept through our alarm until 10:30 am.
it was nice though. we all needed the rest.
after getting ready, we left the hostel to explore beautiful florence.

what's amazing about this city is that you can get anywhere by walking.
i love walking everywhere. it's so relaxing.

our first stop was la cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore.
it's the most beautiful building i've ever seen in my entire life.
i took some photos, but they don't do it justice at all.

here's the duomo di firenze across the square.

after going inside and looking at the beautiful paintings, we went to the uffizi galleria.

i took this picture and was asked to leave by an attendant, because apparently you're not allowed to take pictures. so, sorry friends and family, but this is all i got from the museum.
i also experienced my very first allergy attack while looking at michelangelo's work.

right outside the galleria, in the square there was a replica of the david statue.
it's not the real one, but it's good enough for me.

for the rest of the afternoon/evening, we did some shopping and walking around.

on the way home, we stopped to fill up our water bottles, since water isn't free here.
but bless this city for their faucets and free public water.
and i love my water.

tomorrow is another early one for us.
we'll have to take a train, bus, plane, bus and bus to get to our final destination: berlin, germany.
